Inter v Barça: a gift for Eto’o
Samuel Eto’o will line up for Inter against Barça and is delighted to test his new club against the reigning champions: “Very few teams get to play against the best team in the world”.
Fate determined that Inter Milan would receive FC Barcelona in the Giuseppe Meazza for the opening match of the Champions League group stage. The fact that former Barça striker Samuel Eto’o is now with the Italian champions has added an extra dimension to the clash. Speaking in an interview with TV3, he describes Wednesday evening’s match as a “gift” and assures the fans. “Very few teams get to play against the best team in the world”.
A dream final
Samuel Eto’o is always ready for a challenge and would like to meet his former club in the final: “I didn’t want to face Barça at this point in the competition. My wish is that both teams reach the final. I want to play the final against Barça”.
Return to the Camp Nou
However, Eto’o has no complaints about the tie: “It’s a pleasure to play now against Barça and in a couple of months’ time return to the Camp Nou. In fact I wondered if I would ever get the chance to return here and now I know I’ll play again in the stadium that will always be my home”.
