Quote Of The Day ; Pelé on Barça

“The crowd wants to see this [Barça’s style] football, this spectacle. I sincerely hope it’s the blueprint for the future—that skill overtakes strength. For example, Germany has a much more technical game at the moment. This is the football we like to see, with the ball moving, not the players, and that only happens when teams are very well organised. That’s how Barça is today, that’s how my Santos was.”

Messi Stats after Valencia Game

FC Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi took advantage of the occasion of his 200th Liga match to score four goals against Valencia in the Camp Nou on Sunday. In single-handedly demolishing his opponents, Messi became the first player in the Liga this season to score four times in a single game. He also matches a scoring performance unseen by a Barcelona player since Samuel Eto’o scored four way back in November of 2008.

To put Messi’s amazing scoring run into perspective, consider this: he has now scored more goals [27] by himself than half of the teams in the Spanish Liga. And at only 24, he stands on the threshold of becoming Barcelona’s alltime top scorer: 14 more strikes and he will surpass Cesar’s total of 235.
